After a busy day on Monday at the Animal Kingdom, and because we had promised the kids, we decided that Tuesday we would take the kids to one of the two water parks at Disney World. read more.... Continue

pauljriley Disney holiday - Day 5 – Monday 10th August - Afternoon

From the exit of the safari, Pangani forest exploration trial is pretty much next door, and gives you a chance to see even more wildlife, but this time on your own two feet, this is much more like a zoo, although one in Africa not the UK. read more.... Continue

pauljriley Disney holiday - Day 5 – Monday 10th August – Animal Kingdom

Having had a successful day the day before, we decided that the fifth day of the holiday we would approach it in pretty much the same way. So once again we packed a backpack and left the villa early, only this time Disney’s Animal Kingdom was our destination. read more.... Continue

pauljriley Disney holiday - Day 4 – Sunday 9th August - Afternoon

We wandered back to the main central area, mainly to refocus and regroup, and noticed that some of Disney’s characters were out on a meet and photo opportunity session, this was something we had all but overlooked in or plans for the park visits. read more.... Continue

pauljriley Disney holiday - Day 4 – Sunday 9th August - Startours

Star Tours has apparently been at Hollywood studios for at least twenty years and is a ride inspired by Steven Spielberg's blockbusting movie series Starwars. As you approach it you first notice the full size AT-AT looming over you and an entrance to a rebel base below it, read more.... Continue

pauljriley Disney holiday - Day 4 – Sunday 9th August – Disney Hollywood Studios

Saturday evening heralded a flash of inspiration, the days so far had started slowly and by the time we had got to the parks we were all starting to feel the effects of the heat and jetlag, what we hadn’t remembered was that our body clocks were running five hours ahead, read more.... Continue

pauljriley Disney holiday - Day 3 – Saturday 8th August – T-Rex

Very quickly we discovered that T-Rex is a sister restaurant to the Rainforest Cafe, which if your not already aware of is a chain of restaurants whose interior is made to look like a rainforest, hence the name, and comes complete with animatronics animals that periodically move and make noises of the animals they portray. read more.... pauljriley Disney holiday - Day 3 – Saturday 8th August - Morning

With obvious indications that the kids had struggled on their first full day in Orlando we decided that our second day should be relatively low key. Breakfast was out at Perkins, a homely restaurant whose core business is cakes and pies, service and food was above what we had received at Denny’s the day before but still not sparkling.read more.... pauljriley Disney holiday - Day 2 – Friday 7th August– Disney Magic Kingdom

By the time mid-afternoon arrived, we could not stand the excitement any longer and decided that we must spend at least a couple of hours at a Disney theme park, and the obvious choice was the Magic Kingdom. So we quickly rounded up the bits we felt we would need at the park, jumped in the car and set off. read more.... Continue

pauljriley Disney holiday - Day 2 – Friday 7th August – Breakfast and Walmart

Day two started slowly, we had already decided that we wouldn’t put any pressure on ourselves by trying to get to the parks at the earliest opportunity. I had overheard another tourist last night who, when told he would have to return to the welcome centre on the first morning to register, complain that his family had planned to be at the gates to the Magic Kingdom for when they opened,… Continue

pauljriley Disney holiday - Day 1 – Thursday 6th August - Villa

The journey from Sanford to the Welcome centre was about an hour, although having been awake for about 20 hours the progress of time felt a lot longer. The Welcome centre was located just off the highway and close to a collection of hotels and apartments, and the process of getting the information required to finally get to our villa was very quick, partly because we would be expected back the next morning.… Continue

pauljriley Disney holiday - Day 1 – Thursday 6th August – Sanford Airport

The destination of our flight was Sanford Airport, just north of Orlando, which on first sight is probably similar in size places like Leeds/Bradford. It is obvious that this is not an airport with a vast amount of money, functional not flashy, so travelators do not exist here, although the walk along long and very wide corridors was quite welcome after 10 hours of sitting down.… Continue

pauljriley Disney holiday - Day 1 – Thursday 6th August – Gatwick Airport

The first day of the holiday started early, both kids struggled with the early wake-up call as well as the excitement that had built up over the last week or so. Elizabeth’s father drove us to the airport, the country roads dark and quiet and the sun seeming to struggle to rise, but as we drew closer to Gatwick the roads got busier and dawn eventually broke.… Continue

pauljriley Leaving on a jet plane

Well its the night before the flight to Orlando, the dog has been sent to stay with a friend, so his holiday has started, and the bags are packed. We've decided not to take too much because even though during august thunderstorms occur most afternoons, they are brief and heavy, and cool you down, and afterwards the heat of the day dry's you off completely.read more.... pauljriley Destination Disney

Over a year ago the decision was made by my wife and I that this year would be the ideal time to take the kids to Disney, being 7 and 9 years of age they are not too young to enjoy it fully, whilst they are not to old to be embarrassed at the idea of going to see Mickey and co.read more... Tim Stark How to Make a Professional Quality Video from your Vacation Photos

Several months ago I learned of a product called Animoto which allows you to take a series of digital photos and creates an incredible, professional-looking video presentation from them. I liked Animoto so much that I signed up as a member and upgraded my membership which allows me to create full-length videos vs. the free account which only allows 30-second videos. Animoto currently supports several photo sharing and management sites such as Flickr, Faceboo… Continue

Tim Stark Disney Cruise on Disney Magic - Day 7 Double Dip at Castaway Cay

Day 7 - Double Dip back at Castaway Cay We all woke up well rested after a smooth night sailing from Key West. We got up early as we wanted to make the most out of our last day due to the first day at Castaway Cay being cut short by the afternoon rains. We were up shortly before 0800 and had our breakfast out on the verandah. The weather outside looked overcast but we were hopeful it would clear up. We were off the… Continue
